Parade Guidelines

PARADE ACTIVITIES INVOLVING ONE PRIZE FOR THE GROUP ARE OPEN TO:

• Residents within established boundaries of Short Beach, Granite Bay and Riverside and their children and grandchildren
• Members of Short Beach Hose, Hook & Ladder Co. 4 and their immediate families
• Members of Riverside Fire Co. 6 and their immediate families
• Short Beach Day volunteers and their immediate families
• Relatives and friends of eligible resident(s) provided the group is registered by an eligible resident and that the resident(s) registering actually participate in the activity with their relatives and or friends.

Due to CT DOT policy our Labor Day Parade route has changed to the following:
Step-off at 11 from Orchard House west towards the Park. Parade now turns onto Taylor Place, not at Court Street, then continue on to Westwood and Pardee Park.
* Please note the turn is tighter and there is an incline on Taylor Place.

Congratulations to our 2026 Short Beach Days Parade Grand Marshall … KIM NORDEN. 

Kim is a life long Short Beacher and a familiar face to many. You may recognize her from childhood, maybe just from the friendly hellos or quick chats when you walk by as she is sitting on her porch, or from the 20 years she spent behind the concession stand on Short Beach Days weekend!

Kim worked side by side with her husband, and previous Grand Marshall, George Norden for two decades. From getting all the equipment organized and washed, to store runs, shucking corn, chopping lettuce,  servicing customers at the front counter and keeping George in line, she put in more then her fair share of work. We are so excited to be recognizing her efforts as the 2026 Short Beach Days Parade Grand Marshall.

Thank Kim when you see her for her 20 years of volunteerism making Short Beach Days all it is today.
